House Lost

Well, we found out today that a bid was placed on "our" house and it was accepted. We're back on the hunt for a new house. No need to cry though...we have more houses we want to see on our list.

Josh and I are both sad by this, but that is how the game goes. I've been looking at the bright side of things...like 2 acres is a lot for Josh to mow and he can barely keep up with our small yard now...2 of the rooms were fairly small and kids would soon out grow them...it was not the house God has planned for us.

We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this long process.

New House

For anyone who was unaware, Josh and I are currently looking for a new home and are looking to sell our house. We've been looking for some time and our house has been up for almost a month now.
Monday we had the option of viewing 28 homes. Of the 28, we physically toured 10 homes inside and out and drove by an additional 7. These additional 7 were either too "cookie-cutter" looking, bad neighborhood, or were too far from a highway...making a very long drive to work for both of us.
Below are pictures of "the home" we are now working towards. Josh declared this place was home, but only if it was in the Raytown School District...Let me say that God quickly answered the prayer and it is within the Raytown School District!
Here are the facts:
4 bedrooms ~ 2 full baths ~ Built in 1939 ~ 1.5 stories ~ 1 Fireplace (formal living room) ~ 1 wood burning stove (hearth room) ~ Formal living room ~ Formal dining room ~ hearth room ~ attic storage (in house and garage) ~ 2 car detached oversized garage ~ screened porch ~ deck ~ finished basement ~ 2 acres land
Enjoy =o)

Back yard looking toward the northeast and the playground area.

Direct look at the back of the house from halfway out in the back yard.

View from the shed along the back fence (south fence)

Old chicken coop/garden area. We may get chickens, we may not...who knows?!

View of the playground area from the east side of the screened porch

View of deck from the screened porch

View from the far side of screened porch looking into the kitchen through the sliding glass door.

TV/Movie side of the basement. This will eventually have carpet in it.

This side of the basement used to be a garage. It now has glass blocks for the windows. This side will also have carpet in it and will be a play area for the kids.

This part of the basement will hold our deep freezer and storage.

Ceiling in the hearth room and part of the kitchen...notice that it is natural wood to play off the attributes of the hearth room.

Hearth room with detail to wood buring stove...looking into sun room with back door open.

Picture of the built-in book shelves on the east side of the formal living room. You can see into the dining room and our bedroom right out the window!

Formal living room with fireplace and stairs to the 4th bedroom.

Formal dining room looking into the living room. Notice that it has a bay window!

Picture of master bedroom from the master "foyer". To the immediate right is the walkin closet and east of that is the master bath with double vanity and a window for natural light!

4th bedroom. Notice the top of the stairs has a gated area to keep the kids from falling down the stairs. This room also has 2 access points to the attic storage.

Standing where the fridge goes looking out to the screened porch. Also a view of the bar that we plan on raising the height of.

Washer and Dryer area (this is right next to the kitchen and will need to have the doors installed to hide it).
Pantry right next to the washer and dryer area also has area for broom and mops. Notice the stairs...They lead to attic storage space.

View of the hearth room...notice all the beautiful windows (south facing)

3rd bedroom...these windows overlook the sun room and backdoor/back yard

2nd bathroom

Hall off the 2nd bedroom that looks all the way to the kitchen (if the 3rd bedroom doors remain open)

2nd bedroom - this room has 2 closets and a window seat with 2 drawers for storage

1st bedroom - this is the smallest (we'll use it for an office) and also has no closet

Sun room with Josh blocking the back door

2 car detached garage...has attic storage as well...Notice the colonial eagle on top?

Front yard from the northwestern corner (and I'm not all the way to the corner yet!)

Little Updates

So, in case you didn't know, Josh and I are selling our house and buying a bigger home. That's our big update. But, since that isn't very exciting, below are pictures for some side activities we've been done.

Josh and I with part of the Plaza behind us.

I was all in black...so white looked good. This was taken at the Plaza art fair in the kiddie area.

Our friend Jeremy trying to look like the regal lion.

Our friend Amy, looking much better than me when I was on the white one! =o)

Josh - Note: He's lifting up his feet as if he was riding the casually sitting lion! :o)

Brandy - She's a girl we sponsor through our church and she's a member of our church. This is a picture of her after she was done at a birthday party in Mission Hills.

This is the house where Brandy went to the birthday party. This house is for sale, so I looked it up. Mission Hills is a prime spot in Kansas City and this lovely jewel is selling for 2.5 million.

Amy and Jeremy with the Plaza in the back ground.

Josh, Bobbi, Amy, & Jeremy - Overlooking the Plaza (you can't see it in this picture). Also, Josh had to take this picture for me because when I tried, I only got 2 1/2 persons in it. Notice that I permed my hair? This is to help me not cut it before I go to Ireland/Scotland next year. They love them redheads! :)

This is a pre-perm hairdo. This was during Labor Day weekend when all the kids were celebrating Grandpa & Grandma Mumper's 65th wedding anniversary. It was also a huge family reunion. It was great because I got to meet a good number of Josh's family. They were all very nice and welcoming...funny too. One of them was an astronaut!

Don't I make a wonderful Watermelon! This was at the Melon Fest at the City Market Labor Day weekend.

Josh...with his normaly little sly grin.

Another picture of Josh and I overlooking the Plaza. We were enjoying ourselves this day...treated ourselves to Buca Di Bepo (Italian), Starbucks, a walk around the Plaza, and a stop at Barnes & Nobles (we left with 10 books!)
Hope you enjoyed my update. As soon as we look at the houses on Monday, I'll post another update with what we're thinking!
