Main Scripture:
Lamentations 3:26: It is good to wait quitely for the salvation of the Lord.
Sub Scriptures:
Lamentations 3:24-25: I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
Isaiah 40:31: but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Psalm 16:11: You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
How many of you like waiting in lines? We wait in lines at the post office, grocery story, Wal-Mart, Target, at the amusement park, to get on the bus, to go to lunch, even sometimes to be the next in the bathroom. We do a lot of waiting. As a matter of fact, the average person spends 1.9 days per month waiting...just waiting.
God asks us to wait on Him...for his perfect timing for his plans in our life. But, we already know waiting is hard. And today, we're living in an instant gratification world; We want it and we want it now! But God says those who wait on the Lord will have salvation, hope, renewed strength, blessings, joy, ETERNAL pleasures...it's only good things when we wait on the Lord.
Having five small kiddos 6 and under has taught this patient person, that sometimes she's not so patient. There is no such thing as "hurry", "faster", "speed up", etc to kiddos when they first roll out of bed and begin their mornings. I find I am constantly waiting on them. Waiting on them to go potty, to get dressed, to put their shoes on, to come brush their teeth, to put on their jacket, to get their backpack, to get to the van, to buckle up, etc...the list could get quite long!
What if we waited on the Lord with the patience of a parent of 5? Oh, my goodness! Could you imaging the overflowing blessings we'd receive?!
May you make patience your goal. May waiting on the Lord occupy more than 1.9 days of your life a month. May your waiting on the Lord be fully blessed by His goodness and promises.
